So I am a college student. Since it is mid-may, finals are over and school is out for the summer.
Uh oh! Problem. I go to school in St. Louis, MO but live in Dallas, TX, a 600+ mile car drive. What am I going to do with the fish? I couldn't find anyone who wanted them (for the summer or permanently) and I wasn't about to just kill 'em. So I decided to break down my tank and send that home while keeping my poor little neons in 2.5 gallon tank with some gravel from my main tank and two dwarf anubias for some cover. I was able to keep my AquaClear 20 in there with it turned all the way down. I turned it on and off periodically since it created way too much current for a such a little tank.
Anyway, today was the big drive home. I lowered the water level a little and placed the lid on the tank so it wouldn't spill out all over the car. The poor little guys rode home on the floor between my feet (passenger side) for the whole 11 hour trip! When I got home, they were all still alive and well. After a little while they even started regaining their color. Ill working tomorrow to get the main tank set back up for them. I was just really impressed that they all made it in one piece.
