I picked up a 55gal today... used... was a great deal and couldnt pass it up. There were unfortunately some displaced inhabitants I was unaware of. An Ornate Bichir and a Delhezi Bichir(9" and 11" respectively). They get pretty big(16" to 28") and Im not sure that I want to keep them. Ive posted locally in my area for takers. Any suggestions?

Try a club or try trading them in at a lfs. This is the best thing I can think of.

First call all the local petstores and fishstores, see if they take adoptions. If they do, you just got lucky.

If that fails, post on craiglist or in the newspaper, whatever "FREE BICHIRS TO LARGE TANK OWNER"

Sometimes with fish that get that large, you local aquarium is another option. Lots of them take in loads of pacu from the hobby

Lots of people cherish those fish. You should be able to find them a home.

I hate to be a spammer but over on monsterfishkeepers.com they love these things, and you could get a pretty penny for them. And they have big tanks.

I've gotten rid of a few fish I have owned, and on every account I've actually gotten store credit at a LFS for the fish I had. Stick with small businesses, not chain stores like petsmart.

Wow great looking Bichirs! I agree with Red on selling them... a 3" Ornate goes for $50 around here, and I have only ever seen one Delhezi at 6" and he was $75!

Good luck with finding them a new home... I know I would gladly fork the cash out for them if I had a large enough tank. :19:

Where are you located? If you are near me...I would take them.
