Tiger barbs and ghost shrimp

Yeah, a lot of fish like ghost shrimp, but they are like eating candy for us, nothing goood for them...

Gotta be some nutrients there?All critters are mad from from protiene matter.Granted not much for a lil ole shrimp but still food.My fat A$# peacock eel will tell ya that ghostys got something goin for them.:shappy:

I primarily keep ghost shrimp for the crayfish to eat - helps with their molts.

Since I added the 4 new TBs they are quite a formidable pack!

They arent that rich in anything. The way you make them rich though, is putting them in a tank for a couple of days, and feed them hikari wafers or other good things that you want them to eat. Like veggies or something. Then feed them to your fish, but just a plain ghost shrimp is pretty much does nothing for the fish. But the fish still love to eat them!

Yeah I get the gut load thing.I always thought that by having the ghostys in my tank eating all the dead veg matter and other stuff that they are helping to create a more natural food chain type cycle .

I've never seen them catch the shrimp, but I know they are eating them.

Yeah smaug, if the ghost in there, then yes, but you never know what they feed at the petstore..

I think many of them died from the stress of the tiger barbs.

That's really possible. Tiger barbs are notorious fin nippers, I guess they could kill ghost shrimp too...

The weird thing was they killed the shrimp, but made no attempt to eat them. The ones they didn't kill were frieghtened to death.
