I just moved into a townhouse and bought a stand for my 2 tanks. Basic metal stand with space for 2 tanks, 55g on top, 27g on the bottom. Problem is there is a 3/4 inch difference between one end of the tank and the other. It's level from the front to back, but the right side it lower. I didn't notice until the tank was mostly filled. Now I have both tanks on (only the 55g mostly filled) and I REALLY don't want to have drain them and move the tanks off, level the stand and put them back on. Any suggestions on an easy way to level them? :help:

Drain them fast! Before you blow out a side of the tank!
Level your stand well and then refill.Do not level out the tank just the stand.

Have a car jack? You could try jacking up the stand just enough to slide shims under it. But 3/4" is definitely a serious lean and could cause the tank to fail.

With smaller tanks and carpet, you can use a wedge like a shim if you hammer it in very gently, i really dont think you are going to have much luck on a 55 though. Drain it at least half way or your chances are about zero.

That is an accident waiting to happen. Would definitely drain most of the water out. Then get some wood shims or even a few scraps of 3/4" plywood to help level it out. With it being that uneven, it would only be a matter of time before the tank twists and silicone holding it together comes apart.

What about a 1/8 to 1/4 of a lean?

1/4" would drive me crazy! It should be okay but level is always better!:22:

Never mind, just actually measured it with a ruler. It's 1 cm off. It's my top that makes it look worse.

I have an older house that leans a bit here an there... I have the tank level as it should be but it looks off because of the tilted floor. Drives me nuts.. lol

It's vinyl flooring (ugh). Hubby says he will help me move everything and drain the tanks. I have a large Severum and a pleco that I am not sure what I am going to do with. I moved them here in a bag and a bucket, but I don't want to bag all the fish again. I have a 2.5g, I wonder how many fish I can put in it for an hour or so, gotta be better then bagging.

Just grab a 5 gallon bucket they are only a few dollars at the hardware store, or for a little more money, a large tupperware bin

Take a rubbermaid bin, one of those 15-20g ones and fill it about half way or less with dechlorinated water and temporarily house the fish in it. Or just use buckets.

No need to bag them. Depending on how big those guys are may want to put them into a separate container. If you think its gonna take a while to move everything over, you can always put an air stone in each bin.

You and me both! I just filled my 29G in it's new spot and the water line is 2mm off from one side to the other......

Now if I could only find the intake tube for the filter I'd be in business.
