I've noticed a strange white substance in my tank. On the walls and on the rocks, it looks like thick spider webs, especially on the rocks. On the walls of the tank, it's almost as if it comes and goes in places. Is this some kind of algae or possibly mold from excess food? Let me know what you think. I could post pics tomorrow if that would help.

That will help a bunch. I can't say for sure yet without pics, so if you could get those up as soon as possible, that would be great.

I believe they are Colacium arbuscula or Colacium vesiculosum they are flagellum from the Euglenaceae family.... they bunch up together and form a colony. They are usually found in freshwater lakes....they are also usually green but without the high algae content from the lake they take on a white color in a tank. They are no risk to larger fish but will try and take down small fry like Hydra do.

Or it is Aquatic Slime Mold
