Earlier effort - less rock, no background

I like the set up you have there, but I'd just get some smaller plants to put in the front, like in front of the rock. Not lots of them, but just a few to bring some of the green to the front. Does that make sense?:11:

What kind of fish are you planning to put in the tank? Looks like the start of a nice cichlid tank???

Yeah, I was just about to suggest that. Perhaps rearrange the rocks in the middle to create more tunnels?

Nice tank

Looks beautiful...Maybe to green it up a little you could put small plants "growing" out of the rocks.

Looks good! (pdf format? lol)

I think a small tunnel on the middle or slightly offset would be cool too, so it doesn't look as uniform.

thanks folks

crushed coral = as per Chrona. There are some aulonocara & other malawi in their, so need the buffer. Also I like the look :)

Very nice tank, looks like a perfect set up for some Malawi's, however, 180l is about 48g, and that is a bit on the small side for Malawi's.

well bigger would be better. Over-filtered, pwc at least 50% per week, gravel vac every couple of days and careful selection of fish is helping (I've brought a couple that had slightly too much 'character' back...i.e. they were bloodthirsty maniacs lol).

All male mix also takes a lot of the macho malawi posturing out of the equation.

It's a fishy gay bar :)

You'll find Malawi's not neccisairly always aggressive, but more or less always active (say good bye to your plants ... ;) ). They are great fish to keep, by far some of the most colourful other then saltwater. But they do have attitude.

I'd stick with some Mbuna's, they can be a bit more agressive but don't grow to be as big as other species.
