hello all......i already know the criticism i might get from describing what is going on....but i am improving everyday....and everyone seems healthy at the present....so here i go!

24gal tank
inhabitants: 1 RES baby 1.25" shell length, 1 pleco (unidentified) - either sailfin or common (ill post a pic later)
filtration: powerhead(pump) up to box with filter material, back down
water depth: 9-12inches (turtle needs shallower water for time being)

ok, so my general questions.....

1) aeration - is my filtration/pump system providing enough for the tank? the returning water from the tank top filterbox is tubed directly into the water, so there is no drip down - circulation is good ---- my pump has a separate tube (1/4") that is left above water level where i can take off a cap so i guess air can enter the loop and enters the jetstream off the pump? not sure if it is necssary to take off that cap?

2) water level - is 9-12" simply too low for the pleco? he is about 4" right now

3) pleco health - eats, cruises the glass and sucks what he can, but is he healthy in this type of low depth potentially smaller environment? i have a log in there which he sleeps under all day and i guess also eats to help his digestion...

-- thats it for now - i appreciate the help in advance...

and yes....by the way, i am currently in china - and quality fish care is kind of hard to accomplish sometimes....but i am doing my best! so be gentle.....
