hey guys, i got a little eel from the pet store the other day to go in my new 20gallon aquarium. I cant remember exactly what they called him but he has a long hooklike nose and a row of spots running down the end of his tail.. anyways i was wondering what the best kind of food was for these guys, the store said anything from frozen to flakes to bloodworms but i want to keep him as happy as possible with his Gold Gourami roommate, and was also looking for any other information on keeping eels

Is this the eel your talking about?

And the gold gourami may disapear with an eel in the tank. Eels like pretty much anykind of worm. You could also experiment with shrimp and other crustaceans.

so you jsut go out and dig up some earthworms? then what? dry them and cut them? drop them on the water surface? same question about the shrimp

Get some frozen bloodworms, glassworms and some beefheart.Mine has been eating all of that as well as the ghost shrimp that I USED to be able to keep as tank inhabitants.I put 20-30 of them in last sat and between my eel and the angel,I havnt seen even one as of today. If you can find ghost shrimp cheaply [under 10c each] by all means offer them to him once a week or so,10 or so at a time.Otherwhise, get some small worms and keep them free of toxins in a fishing bait worm container and feed them every other day.The frozen stuff would be his staple food and if your lucky he may eat shrimp pellets.Ive never seen mine eat one but then again I seldom see my eel!Good luck with your new slimy pal, they are fun to watch, make sure he has plenty of hiding places where he cant be seen at all.

My peacock has shown ho aggression with any of his tank mates, which include 2 plecs,a clown and a big leopard sailfin. There doesnt seem to be any trouble with my big raph either. The only trouble I see is your tank size which I just noticed.20gal isnt much for a peacock eel, and that you may be a bit overstocked. What is your current stocking level?
