I went to go do a water change today and found my dalmation molly dead at the botom... :scry:

This morning she was all over, eating with everyone for breakfast, even teasing one of the males... She's had no issues that I've been able to see and was acting perfectly normal.

I checked her out very carefully and I didn't see a single mark on her at all. Nothing at all...

So in the matter a couple hours she went from fine to dead and I have no clue as to why. Not knowing... Thats what pisses me off the most. I get very attached to my animals and even name most of them (Dotty... lol) So it seriously gets under my skin when something happens to on of my pets. So it's bad enough to have lost a pet but I have no damn clue or reason why. Instant bad mood... And just because the first thing I think is what did I do? Well I would like to think nothing... all the water tests came out fine and normal, temp is good, she was eating... not much more I can do. So now I can just sit and wait and pray that this isn't a sign of something wrong with the tank ... because now I'm concerned for the others. It's probably nothing and just one of those things, but the next couple days are going to suck. Just sit and watch and twiddle my thumbs.

grrr....

thanks for listening... lol

Jaster.

I am sorry for your loss.

There is always a reason for these things to happen.

Some times we just don't know why. Without taking your fish to have an autopsy some where you will never know.

It does happen to all of us at some stage.

Sorry to hear it!
It may have been old or it may have been internal.

She was only about 9 months old if that...

I'm sure it was something internal and I'm sure there is nothing I can do about it but it still gets on my nerves not knowing for sure the cause.

I'm calling Ducky from 'NCIS'. I saw him do an autopsy on a group of goldfish! lol

Thanks all :ssmile:

I would rather have Abbey do it!thumbs2:

Try feeding some minced garlic or switch to NLS brand foods. The garlic will kill off any internal parasites.

Do I just put it in the tank with the regular food? Just drop a few pieces?

I'm sure I can come up with better ideas for Abby then doing an autopsy... :hmm3grin2orange:

LOL Yup! You know she really did do all the schooling to do the job she does.
One reason she is so good at it.
You can mix the juice with the food and the garlic. They love it.Don't feed them a lot at a time so you do not stink up your tank.

That is sad news! Sorry Jaster :scry: It can happen to people too! one minute they are fine and the next they drop down dead with no outward signs at all of any problem.. Your platy may have had any number of internal issues or a genetic problem.
