What is the best food for guppies? I've been using a mix of brine shrimp, earthworm, and high nutrition flakes that were from my angelfish breeding days. The guppies seem to like it well enough but I'm running out and will soon need to get some more food.
Suggestions would be great!

You can mix up your own food. Bloodworm, Brineshrimp flakes, freezed dryed tubifex worms. I found some speciality fish food from DrsFosterSmith.com made by Nutrafin Livebearer food that I ordered. Some people wrote about the food and said their fish loved it. I ordered it and I'am going to try it. I know that Petsmart carries a Guppy food made for them by Topfin it's about $3.99. You can look this up online under petsmart and also look up that food from drsfostersmith The item # for that food is AKD-608312 I sometimes make a tropical fish blend up with the above and Tetramin flakes. The speciality food had alot of good input and it helps the fish stay healthy look at the testimonials :fish:

I personally use New Life Spectrum community fish formula for my livebearers. They absolutely love it.

All my fish get New Life Spectrum. The guppies have amazing coloration and are breeding like crazy. The garlic in the Thera+A formulas can kill internal and external parasites.

Is New Life Spectrum something I can pickup at a pet store or is it only avalible online?
I'm probably going to hit petsmart tomorrow anyway so I'll look to see what they have.

I use Ed's Almost Natural Tropical Fish Food

He has many different varieties, I use Freshwater Flakes and Supercolor Flakes. They have given my fish great color and they gobble them up like it is candy. He makes a variety of stuff, balls, pellets, etc. He also makes stuff for breeding and stuff to give to fry.
I love it. At first to me, It seemed like I needed to buy alot, I compared 2oz of his food to 2oz of Petsmart food and thought it wasn't much. But once I recieved it it was enough to fill up an 18oz tupperware container.
Give it a try. You can only buy it online though. It really got to me once I read on his site about how they make fish food. You never know how long that can of fish food has been on the shelf at Petsmart.

I second that. Also give them fresh veggies from time to time.

What kind? Like zucchinni?
I got some of the TopFin guppy specific food today, along with some color enhancer and some general high nutrient stuff. Made a 3:1:1 mix. I'll let you know how it goes with the guppies (and platties).

I also use Eds food. The freshwater flake specifically. My fish love it and they go crazy for it. It has done wonders for the colors of my fish too.

Zucchini, broccoli, spinach, broccoli, carrots, etc. Just try different veggies to see which ones they like. If they are cooked it will be easier for them to eat it.

Hikari makes a very nice guppy pellet. It's expensive though.

And yes, the pellets are small enough for guppies. Looks like couscous.:ssmile:
My guppies also nibble on algae wafers. Or used to, they first went at them in a big way, now they're kind of "meh". See attached photo.
I also feed them peas once a week. Everyone will eat some, a few go for them in a big way. Peas are a laxative, it keeps them regular.
The Top Fin guppy food contains bloodworms. Although bloodworms are a good source of protein, the casings are hard to digest and can bloat the guppies. And Top Fin's bloodworms aren't the best, there are lots of casings and small bits of wood in there.
