thankyou dave why they banned mate ?
Jay,
Because of the knee-jerk reaction of the US government, friend, because of the walking catfish (Clarias batrachus). The government was so afraid that the species would escape into the wild and survive, which it could in warmer states like Florida, instead of banning the single species they banned the whole Clarias Genus. It's illegal here to sell, transport or own a Clarias species. A shame, I know, but there you are.
There are several fish and aquatic plant species folks in other countries can secure that are banned here in the US.

Actually Ive seen quite a few randomly on aquabid for sale in the US...kind of like asian aros are banned in the US...but I can name atleast 10 people Ive known online that own one :) Its stupid to ban an animal...if people really want it they will obtain it, granted it will cut down on random purchases which is probably their intent for banning them. Keeping the price high means the animal will always have a home in somebodys tank.

Great looking cat, but the Silver Aro and GG caught my eyes the most! How big is your Aro and Gourami?
P.S. You can hand feed your Aro? Mine will hand feed, but she usually end up taking part of my hand! I dont think she understands the concept of "hand feeding"!
