Freshwater clams can be nice, but at the same time a pain in the neck.
Because they are like little biological filters, clams can be REALLY sensitive to anything you add to the water like ferts and meds. They can also be really temperamental when it comes to the substrate. I also found out the hard way that you can never really tell if they are dead until it's too late and they foul your water.
They are cool to have just make sure you know what you're getting into.
Ic thanks for the advice Nic!
they are filter feeders, so you got to make sure you feed them. (target feeding)

Temperature is 65-85° F according to that page under "Water Conditions". Yeah, that would be cool to have, but I imagine it'd be hard to make sure it was eating enough.

I have simalar except they where called fresh water mussels here lol
It is cool and loves my sandy tank, the sand looks cleaner as it turns it all over, I dont target feed but he is healthy, but he is in a well established tank been running for 4 yrs before he was put in, I was told not to put into anything under 6 mth old unless target feeding.
Everydau is find the mussel, then I sit there and his litle mouth part is sticking out of the sand and you can see it going in and out, and the floaty debris going into his mouth.
Every so often I dig it out, not too often as I dont want to disturb it too much, and he will rebury under 1hr
