Wow!!!!!! That looks absolutely awesome once it's in the tank. How do you guys think it would look if you didn't need it for the "caves" but just wanted to glue different kinds of rock on the surface for a great and lightweight background?

You wouldprobbly be better off gluing it to a sheet of acryic that is cut to fit the back of your aquarium, so you could remove it if you needed to. 1/8" should do.

I want to get an african cichlid tank just so I can put that in there.

Taking another look at that, I'd worry that the metal holes would be quite sharp and maybe cut the fish. What do you guys think? I guess you could use 1/2 rounds of PVC pipe attached together, and put holes in it the same way..hmm..now there's an idea...

You could cut 1/2 inch pvc pipe to fit inside the holes and glue them in with silicone. That would prevent sharp edges.

Those are vinyl gutters. You can use sandpaper to round off the edges, or just put a bead of silicone around it. I wouldn't trust aluminum gutters in an aquarium anyways.

Wow, lot of work, but boy, that would be a neat way to hide away filters and heaters and such, and provide a cooler looking background for the tank.
