I have a question for you guys about a particular behavior I see a lot..... I've noticed this in all my fish and at all times during the day.... What they do is to stay in one spot almost motionless but they sort of "twitch" their bodies rythmically. They mostly seem to do this while they are among the plants but they also do it out in the open sometimes. I thought they were resting but we added four new fish the other day and the next day they were all in a little group doing this together so I wondered if it was a nervous behavior. I've testing the water and everything is fine so I was curious what you guys think....

some of my fish do something like that when they are trying to be still but they are in a light current. could that be the casee with yours?

current in a tank will most definitely keep your fish in a certain spot in the tank. do you have many places for the fish to hide and establish territory?

I assume what you guys mean by current is the output from the filter.... our filter is set pretty high because we have a large tank but I'm looking at the tank right now and there are fish on each end of the tank that are doing this, not just on the end where the filter is coming from. We have a lot of live plants and most of the small fish stay within the plants and display this behavior but the larger fish do it too and not necessarily while they are just hiding in the plants.

I was pretty sure that the "twitching" I described was just to keep them in place and was curious if this was just a way of resting for a while.....
