View Full Version : oh god my fish im pretty sure has TB help me!

ok i havent been on for a while but here we go:
my red platy has a hunched, curved spine and is thin. yeah i know that its got to be TB
but i have lots of other fish! will they all die?? i really cant kill them... i need help!

okay.. anything else? will all my fish die?
this fish has only been like this for a day or two, and is still eating and swimming.

Ice bath is the merciful thing to do for your infected fish. Wait and see for the others.

I would QT him and medicate with something before you put him down. Just in case you are wrong on what is causing his issues. I just went through a lot of bacterial issues, fin rot, pop eye and septis all at the same time. I thought for sure I was doomed for a total loss. I treated with Mardel Maracyn-Two for a week, let the tank sit for a couple days and did a 50% water change then treated with Primafix and Melifix for a week and everything cleared up. It may be worth a shot. I'd go with prima and melafix first. That stuff seemed to have a greater effect on the tank then the Maracyn-Two did.
Keep an eye on the others and good luck!

if you do need to put him down, I agree with the ice bath. It sucks no matter what but this seems to be the most painless and quickest.

It doesn't have to be TB, giving birth repeatedly can cause spinal problems, and so can intestinal worms.
