I hate wiper blades, I can't seem to find anything that last much more then a month. I've tried the cheap pylon blades to the $15-$20 a piece teflon coated, and anything in between and and I even tried the expensive frame less ones (didn't work out of the box so they got returned). I must go through a pair every 4-6 weeks and their starting to squeak again so I need some more and I just bought them a month ago. I don't even drive much and I go through them quickly.

Does anyone else seem to have this problem, or is it just me? I'm just getting fed up with it. Seems like when I first started driving (only 6 years ago) I would get atleast 6 months out of the cheap ones, and close to a year out of the decent ones.

I got a year + out of some cheapy Anco's ($6 a peice) They never squeaked and worked great. I was in Boston during a snow storm and the mounting tab thing busted off the driver's side one so I had to replace it with a $15 frameless Michelin because it was all I could find in a pinch. I tried the Michelins before getting the cheap Anco's and they both fell off the wiper arms (nothing I could do would get them to stay on!) I dunno if the design changed but I ended up with a matching Michelin for the other side and had NO mounting issues at all (super easy!) and so far they are great! Going on 3 months now and no squeaks.

I've found the frameless just don't work for my car. I think its the shape of my windshield. Even sitting still they don't clear a thing.

This last pair was pylon winter blades, and the pair before that were Anco and I didn't get much life out of either

I replace a set about every 3 years. Something is wrong.

I don't even get much of a chance to use wiper blades around here, LOL it barely rains, never snows, and the weather is generally pretty nice. The blades on my 1983 volvo (I rarely drive it) are probably almost 9 years old, heavily cracked, but still working. The ones on my daily driver (toyota pickup) are at least 2 years old and still going strong. Unless you live in Antarctica I'd say somethings wrong, no way you should have to replace them as often as you are. Also, since even a "heavy" rain around here isn't much I could be totally off base.

The stock blades work great on my Golf. Replace them once a year. How is your winshield? If its pitted from (all the little almost microscopic rock pits from crap on the road) then that might be your problem.

I also find that using any of that windshield washer fluid with teflon or rain-x really leaves a film on your windshield causing a lot of problems with your blades.

As far as the squeeking goes, that could be because you don't have enough moisture on your windshield. I know alot of people who use their wipers for a slight drizzle causing the squeeking, but if its squeeking during a downpour, it could be the design of the windshield itself. Just because a blade squeeks though, doesn't mean its broken or not working. If you're getting a lot of streaks or they're just not cleaning up the windshield enough, then they need to be replaced.

If they squeak it's because of what they are made of. My partner has the same prob, he gets expensive ones and they all squeak, so next time he will go to the dealership and get genuine ones and see if that works...

The windshield is smooth with no cracks and they squeak whether its pouring or drizzling. There great once they get replaced but after a month, maybe 2 months tops they begin to squeak again. I only use the cheap blue washer fluid. I've used the other stuff before, but never noticed any benefits.

I don't know if its the shape of my window or what. They tuck under the hood when parked so I would think their out of the sun more so then most vehicles.

Has anybody ever put Rain-X on your windshield? I've found it doesn't work unless the windshield is brand new, otherwise it causes problems. Other than that, I have no clue! Could the springs in the wiper arms be too tight or something?

You can clean your blades with rubbing alcohol. It does help!
Those new blades that have no springs or structure are suppose to be good but I won't pay $38 buck for one wiper!

I agree with Taurus on this one...Ive bought everything from $3 POS ones to $17 really nifty Teflon ones. I did have luck out of a set of RainX blades they lasted about a year before streaking up real bad. Ive got some random ones on there now that are driving me mad because they streak...need to buy some new ones :22:

I have had a set of Rain X Latitude Blades on my 96 XJ for 3 yrs now. They still work like new. They clear thick gooey mud and rain and also wet heavy snow real well.

Summer time they clear a lot of mud and dirt from the windshield....

I use it on all my vehicles. Works great. I put it on once in the spring when weather warms up and once in the fall before winter hits. I put it on all our work vehicles too. You must not be doing something right if it is causing problems.

Rain X Latitudes are graphite coated. That must make a mess when the graphite wears down.

All this modern science and technology available and they still can't make a longlife, afforable pair of wiper blades. LOL.......ah well, whatever Wally Wolrd has on sale!
