the largest pacu knocked the intake loose from my AC110 again and it ran dry. after i unplugged it and fixed it, i accidentally plugged in the wrong filter. its a submersible that i havent been using. someone chewed through its wiring today so bare wire was out under water. i accidentally plugged in that filter. i think my largest pacu was touching the bare wire at the time. he stayed still after, then he slowly drifted and clunked his head. he thrashed around pretty bad after.
is it possible for him to get electrocuted like that? is it permanently damaging?

Yeah, that could definitely pose an eletrocution risk. I'm sure something like that could cause some permanent damage if the fish was shocked bad enough. How's it doing just now? I would be monitoring him closely.

hes doing bad, hes laying in a corner. hes extremely powerful and never acts lethargic.
EDIT- hes up and swimming now actually, hes acting fairly normal. no burn-like marks on him. i think he'll be alright

I wouldn't think there's a whole lot that can be done, except to just let him try to recover. He could just be knocked out and he'll recover with time. If it was me, I'd just let him be for a while and see how he does. I guess he'd need to be removed to QT if other fish start picking on him. Best of luck, and I hope he recovers.

He apparently got a jolt but not enough to knock him silly or burn him. You had better do something about that uptake tube on that Aqua Clear. He constantly knocks that thing loose. Maybe you need on of Fluvals corner filters.

Glad to hear that he's up and acting normally. Sounds like he got a decent shock though.

its actually a fluval 4+ corner filter that caused all this, someone chews any wires that get submersed (guessing my black shark).
the pacus already attacking food, i think it was just like a tazer to a elephant, he got a slight stun.
im sick of that aquaclear intake though, its ran dry about 6 times but it still keeps working.
Glad to hear that he's up and acting normally. Sounds like he got a decent shock though.
Di-did you just respond to cocoa_pleco a minute before he made a response?
That creeps me out man.
Edit: Oops, didn't see cocoa plecos edit. hahahaha. Still weird because it matched up almost perfectly.

yeah, it was a stupid mistake that could have been avoided, i should have checked which plugin was the aquaclears rather than guessing

LOL, he made an edit in a earlier post saying the fish was doing better.
Glad to hear that the fish is doing better Cocoa...
I bet he's not going near there for a while!

Hey man. You may know this, but commercial fishermen some times run a mild current through their lines to attract fish to them and get them to bite. Your fluval cord's insulation may have a thin spot some where on it and it may be causing your fish to relate it to food. Try some clear or black non conductive silicone on your cords that are submerged. Might clear up the cord eating thing.

Thik hell be fine in the long run, was watching a prog on Nat Geog about snakeheads, and to humanly catch them they would end an electric feild ito the water and stu the fish, they then throw the native fish back ad tehy taged the snakehead, they said that it stuned them for different times depeding on the fish.
o/t wa fasinating cause they anesthitised the snake heads in clove oil, and then cut into the belly and put a transmiter in before releasing

Would it be possible to build up rocks or something of the like around the filter intake? Or some sort of structure that allows you to move it when you need to clean but solid enough to...weather the storm...that is your pacu? I hope not to jinx you but sooner or later that AC is going to run out of horseshoes.
