What are the best resources for accurate information on corals? For example, for fish there is fishbase.org. Is there an equivalent website for corals? How about any books? What is the best book for accurate information on all the different types of corals? Thanks in advance.

Information geared to which 'target audience', scientific community or hobbyists?

Very hard to pin point a single web page, particularly when seeking info geared toward hobbyists since the info is from hobbyists (who can have all sorts of varying views), though these monthy magazine type sites offer valuable info, though not necessarily consolidated or in database form:

http://www.advancedaquarist.com

Scientific info may not be very applicable to the hobbyist (in my opinion, a fish site like fishbase.org doesn't really offer much usable info to the hobbyist); a coral version of it maybe even less so.

For Pictorial info only, this site (hundreds of photo's of stony corals in the vicinity the Philippines archepelago) in my opinion is great for viewing corals as they appear in the wild rather than in tanks. All or nearly all stony coral Families are depicted:

For books, I think "Aquarium Corals: Selection, Husbandry, and Natural History (http://www.amazon.com/Aquarium-Corals-Selection-Husbandry-Natural/product-reviews/1890087475/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1)" by Eric Borneman is very decent. It discusses many aspects of corals both in the wild and in the tank. Over 400pages. It seems to find common ground between both the scientific and hobbyist perspective.

"Corals: A Quick Reference Guide (http://www.amazon.com/Corals-Quick-Reference-Guide-Oceanographic/product-reviews/1883693098/ref=pr_all_summary_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1)" by Julian Sprung is a good reference type book.

Multiple sources of info may be the best bet.
