Tippmann® A-5® Paintball Markers Recalled for Repair Due to Risk
of Injury
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with
the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product.
Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of product: Tippmann® A-5® Paintball Markers
Units: About 13,000
Manufacturer: Tippmann Sports LLC, of Fort Wayne, Ind.
Hazard: The end cap assembly on the rear of certain A-5® markers can break and eject during
use, posing a risk of injury to the operator.
Incidents/Injuries: Tippmann Sports has received three reports of the end cap assembly
breaking, ejecting and hitting the operator. One minor injury has been reported.
Description: This recall involves Tippmann A-5® markers with serial numbers 0409301 to
0422200. The serial number appears on the packaging accompanying each marker and is
engraved on the left side of the marker near the front grip. Serial numbers ending in an “R” have
already been repaired and are not included in the recall.
Sold by: Major sporting goods retailers, paintball dealers and online retailers nationwide from
May 2008 through February 2009 for between $180 and $350.
Manufactured in: United States
Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled paintball markers immediately and contact
Tippmann Sports for a free repair kit.

I wonder if that is why I saw a influx of a5's on craigslist. I miss paint balling!

I have an A-5 sitting around here somewhere, but since i modded it even if the recall applied to me they wouldn't honor it.

probably not Lobster...
I kind of remember something like that happening when the A5's first came out... at least I think it was the A5. but I do remember telling my kid he couldn't get one until they worked the bugs out. He still doesn't have one... lol

Wow. Good thing I don't own and A5 or any of my friends. I have a Spyder, they have 98's and X-7's.
