I have my very pregnant platy in a breeding tank there is a lot of food and waste collecting in the bottom. Is this food that has dropped through the cracks good for the fry to eat or should I clean it out before they arrive?

It is always best to clean any and all food leftovers to avoid rotting that could pollute your water...

I clean any leftover food that collects the next day with a fish net or a turkey baster to suck it up. I would just crush the flake food you feed your reg. fish into a fine powder. Put this is a small bag or a small container and use a toothpick and dip it in the water first and then into the fine powder. Keep the toothpick in the bag or container with the food. I fed mine 5X's throughout the day but my water quality was going bad so now I only feed them once in the morning and once at night. I had to do a water change to get the water quality back to normal. The turkey baster works well to get left over food that collects or you can buy a medicine syringe thing at the drug store and put a air hose line at the end to suck up the stuff also. Works well for me and is cheap. :fish: :goldfish: :fish:
