I have a question for you Betta People. I had a Betta for awile in my 5.5g with a filter and heater and some silk plants. Well that tank is now home to quite a few guppy fry but Id still like to have a Betta. Now I have a smaller 1g plastic tank that I would still put a heater and some kind of filter in. Now I know people on here will say thats too small for a betta but wouldnt it be so much better then the little plastic cup with 2" of water they sit in in the pet store?

It would technically be better. But, dividing your 5.5g so the guppy fry are on one side and the betta is on the other would be even better than that. (2.25g for the betta instead of 1g.)

The bioload will increase as the guppies get bigger, but I don't think you'd end up exceeding the number of water changes you'd be doing for the little 1g anyway.

I have about 30+ guppy/platy fry in there already

Yes, it would be *better* but not *good*. The betta will survive, but it won't thrive in a tank that small.

I'd suggest using it for shrimp and get something bigger for the betta.

Whoa... What are you gonna do with the 30+ fry you have? They are gonna grow soon.

I'll sell them or some of my other fish will get a tasty treat

Hmm, then you can probably put the betta in the big tank after you have cleared out the fry's.
