hot ballast

I just got a 2x65 actinic 150w HQI and the ballast gets hot. You can touch it, but I wouldn't want to pick it up. Is that normal, that hot?

Yes it is normal. Its good to get the ballast where it has air movement all around it and/or to have a fan blowing over it.

K, I feel better, didn't want to start a fire. I have it sitting on the drip tray that came with my sump for the bioballs.

Haha! just reread that---no it's not IN the sump.
