I have an empty 20g and i got a new filter and heater for easter! I want it to be very colorful and tropical. Any suggestions?

Maybe some different color guppies and then a school of 8 pygmy corys for the bottom.

Use sand instead of gravel. I have pool filter sand in my 55 gal. tank. $10 for a 25lb bag at the pool supply store. I gives you the look of a salt water tank.I also have black sand in my smaller 5 & 6 gal. tanks. But stay away from the fine powered black sand or reg. sand.:fish: :fish: Add shells and alot of real or fake plants. It will look really tropical. Gold dust Mollies are a really bright yellow and look really nice in my tank. Add bright color tropical fish. :fish: Remeber to get corys for the bottom and maybe a nice group of schooling fish like Glow-light tetras, Rasboras, black light tetras, Bushy nosed plecos are great for algae clean up on the glass and they only get about 4" full grown.:fish:
DAMMIT! I just totally wrote out a long post exploring every option for your tank and I accidently deleted it.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH. It's 12:40 now and I'm not writing out again.
Basically it boiled down to me saying you should probably go for some platies and some mollies as well as a bottom feeder such as cories or a clown pleco.
Dammit! That was really great too. I was on the second last paragraph.
I'll try again tommorow but I won't be sleep-drunk so it probably wont be as good
