Hi! I was wondering if those of you who have yo yo's would indulge me. My guy just started to burrow in the sand behind a piece of small driftwood and lay down. This is a little unusual for him as he likes to zip all around the tank. I have seen him more than once just snuggle into the driftwood and lay there. I had to replace a heater that died after many years and found the temp hard to regulate. I finally got it back up to 80 as that is the temp I usually keep it. Could the colder water at 74 made the loach cold and needing warmth? As I said, please indulge this crazy mind!

Colder water will slow down any fish that requires a higher temp....See how he does now that the temp is back up...

Hi! He is still in his spot by the driftwood, however, I put some worms in and heard him munching out at the top of the tank!!!!!

Loaches love to root and dig.Mine like to snuggle into a crevice and just hang out as well.

I have a school of 4 yoyos and they root around in the sand all the time. I don't think there is anything to worry about.

My yoyos very active late evenin night, but in the day he digs into the sand, usually into a small crevise, so when I had bogwood he would be between the bogwood and sand, now he is squeezed under the cornerof the stone and the sand, if not there he has a burrow of sorts down one side of the tank between the stone and tank side that has java moss over it lol

If it's the only yoyo you really should get several more about the same size. They're social fish, and really do need others of their own species to interact with.

I put two yo-yo 's in my tank for snails when they dig or go nose first in gravel or sand they do this a lot. That's the nature of the yo-yo they really like small gravel or sand the best.when they rest they like to lay on there side against a log or cave.

I had a yo yo that sat in a ten gallon with three inches of water in it for a month didn't know be was still in it. Cleaning it out one day and he was poured out with the rock flipping around wondering what just happend as was I. Just picked him up put him in my 125 and he was just fine. So no IMO a little harshness to a yo yo is taken in stride.

It to me IME just Loaches and how they act. Mine do it from time to time.

I doubt it is the temp. My tanks are at 26'c and always around that and they are normally slow for half the day, then dash around.

As for burring in and behind things. Mine do it all the time. More if they have no places to hide in.

With only having one yoyo he will be very alone. I would get at least 3 more ASAP.
