About two months ago I purchased two baby tiger barbs to add to my aquarium. I noticed as they got bigger their stripes changed slightly to a nice turquoise. I asked somebody about it and they said my babies may be hybrids. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this in their barbs before? Are my barbs possibly average but sick?

Howdy and welcome to the forum, tiger barb stripes. I'd have to see them to be sure, but I very seriously doubt your fish have any sort of disease. It's either a hybrid as that person said or a different species of barb altogether. If you can post a sharp photograph I can tell you for sure.

Wow. That would be great. They do seem very active and don't seem to be sick. I really like their color too. When its feeding time the scales become an obvious turquoise or dark greenish black. I will see what I can do about a picture. :)

2 of my barbs have like this blueish greenish stripes instead of black. Werid thought they were sick but they've been fine for about 9 months.
