my 2 yr old betta died the other day. I noticed he started to get i think it was fin rot on his anal fin but nowhere else. after that he started to swim around less.I used melafix in the tank for a week like instructions said, but i think i left it to long to use medicine and it was just prolonging his life, not healing him.i then noticed that he was getting bloated the day before he died and wasn't interested in moving or eating. I'm quite upset about his death because he was my first and favourite fish and lived the longest out of all of mine. heres a pic of him in his prime a bit blurry thou :(. Also could anyone tell me wat kind of betta he is like crowntail etc? I never found out :S.

any help would be fantastic

thx newbiedude

Pics a little blurry, cant really tell what he is. He was pretty old for a Betta and it was probably his time. At that age the meds can only do so much

He was a Veil Tail, unless he had some slight "spiking" at the end of his tail in which case he was a combtail, which would mean that somewhere in him he had some crown tail.
You honestly don't know how old he was when you got him, sure some bettas can live longer, but two years not knowing the age beforehand is a good time to have had him.
It probally was just old age combined with the struggle of the fin rot that caught up with him.
Sorry for your loss.

Slight spiking would make him a crowntail. Full spiking would make him a combtail.

Betta's life cycle is only a couple years so he may just have been at the end of his.
