Hi,
I have 1 gold gourami and 1 dwarf gourami. The dwarf is a female, not sure about the gold. The gold gourami is very aggressive with the female. Anytime she comes out to swim or feed he will chase her and nip at her until she goes to hide in the weeds. I feel very badly for the dwarf, but hate to have to get rid of the gold. I read on the net that gouramis should have "friends". Should I get another gold one and perhaps another dwarf?
Thanks for any advice.

Dwarf and Gold Gouramis have very different behaviours and gold gouramis are much more agressive and should for this reason not be kept with gold gouramis especially not in small aquariums. (don't know the size of yours).
Adding more fish might help by spreading the aggression over more fish.

I have two gold gourmi with two trident sharks i found out that if you keep them in pairs like 2 gold gorumi and my two sharks they will leave each other alone

It's always best I've found to just keep one gourami. They don't seem to get on with each other. I have an opaline and moonlight but can't put them together as they fight. Neither will live with any other gourami but they're both fine with other fish, big and small.

I would remove one or the other of the fish. Another gourami will not help the situation.

Gouramis do not like or need friends. They are similar to bettas when it comes to this. It is always best to just have one gourami per tank. Pick either the gold or the dwarf and rehome or set up a new tank for the other. Adding another gourami would only add to your problems. What size tank do you have anyways.

I don't think your gourami will want to share the tank with another.
My gold prefers to be alone.Very alone!lol
He tries to kill any other fish I put in the tank.
If you were nearby I would give you this one!lol:hmm3grin2orange:

This thread is from 2006. It's likely the Gouramis are gone by now anyways, even just due to old age.
Can we please stop pushing irrelevant threads to the top?
