How does the Python work?

I just bought a used tank, stand and decorations and got a python with the package, but now I want to know how the heck I use the thing? Why does it have a connection for my tap?

that's how it works :)

in short:
--attach to tap, stick vac into tank, put python into suction mode, turn on water
--water flowing through tap tube creates venturi type vacuum, sucks tank water out(rapidly)
--Put python into fill mode and water is directed into the tank(make sure you add dechlor to tank first!

quite simply put, pythons are *the* coolest thing since sliced bread :)

yeah. pull the little green bottom down to suck water out.

Push it back up to fill the tank.

I want to get one but was wondering if its hard to get the temp right, and how to dechlorinate the water before it went into the tank. You add all the dechlorinator to the tank before you add the water?

Not at all Hailey. I can tell by touch, but if you put a thermometer under the running tap, you can adjust until the tap water temp matches the aquarium temperature.

as stated above pythons the best thing since sliced bread... if it wasnt for my python i wouldnt have a tank bigger than 5 gallons

yeah you can get the temps very precise if you try.

And as far as declorinating i think if you just ad while you're filling you should be fine.

I add my dechlorinator before or adding new water... seems to work. Someone here said you can't hurt the fish by adding too much dechlorinator, but too little is bad....

thats correct, i usually add half while adding and the other when its done.
