IM SO DAM PISSED OF AT WALMART!

they were lightly stocked, but it was so god d*m dirty with disease and brown algae. One of the blackskirts had such bad finrot it spread to its body, and it was shriveled up from tuburculosis in a tight ball like a doughnut, and the dam dempsies had serious gill disease, and i asked 2 people to grab me a fish, ignored, asked guns to get someone, he went to paint and they said to the gun guy to tell me to p*ss off, and they just both ran off.
I was gonna get my own friggin fish, but left. I almost cried for that blackskirt, and they had a betta in the tank with MAJOR fin rot.

Disgraceful. pure disgraceful

oh, and this is going to bug me.

f1oored, remember i said i found out my powerheads are for FW only?

I called the store, and they dont sell live stuff but they have a 55g SW tank for aesthetic reasons and have the same powerhead as me.

They said that they had their powerheads up for 4 years and alls good, so mine are fine.

WHEW!

you should try to talk to them to see if you can get the filter they have hooked up for all of those tanks. It has to be one heck of a filter to handle all of that. I saw one of them in the walmart and it had a biowheel that was about 6 inches across with a 4 inch diam.

they have to have desease all over them but just run medications thru them like crazy.

wal-marts tanks are so bad i thought all the waste on the bottom was sand for the corys to fussle through.

I wouldnt buy wal-marts filters. Theyre probably more diseased than anyhting in the world.

There was even some molly fry rotting in a breeder trap

What really did me in was that poor blackskirt. I was gonna take it out of the tank and euthuanise it right there, but then i read the sign that theres surveillance there and thought id get pwn3d. Poor things probably still rotting and shriveled up

it is a shame when you see such poor condtions. Maybe they will get rid of the fish soon

That's so sad. My hubby went into Walmart today and they still had fish at ours.

mine REALLY should. There are few people working in any depts. and the fish are NEVER taken care of

Yea, they need to try and find a dedicated employee strictly for the pet section or do away with the livestock

I went again to walmart here and everything is good there as all the other times I went all healthy tanks no problem at all only some were a little overcrowded but HEY what pet store doesnt have an overcrowded tank?
and they had some new fish in... last time I went there was one empty tank tht now has like 5 oscars small about 2 inches each.....

That is pretty cool that you have a decent WalMart. If i did i might actually buy some fish there

one of my lfs's that has the 500g live rock tank and 300g anenome tank is VERY decently stocked.

They have lots of show fish, and the fish get PLENTY of room and decor to sit in.

They even have a lounge chair section with a fireplace and 150g salt tank.

They also be fair to fish like SW shrimps by having the SW tanks acrylic and having holes so compatible species can visit the others tank

The fish dept at the Wal-Mart near me has never been very impressive. When the Misses and I go shopping, I'll wonder off to inspect things. I personally would never buy fish there. The personal appear to do just enough to keep the tanks some what clean. No gravel, no plants, just fish & water. Oh, maybe a snail or two. I get my supplies and fish from the shop I have in-store-credit. Typically, I drop off a couple of dozen one inchers and in exchange for what I need. I feel the worst offending Wal-Marts or any pet shop should be reported to the local Animal Control or Human Society. Just my opinion.

Perhaps department stores should just leave the pets to the pet stores.
