How many live plants and are they fast growers? If they are doing very well, you can add some algae eaters and follow this "silent" cycling method. Normal cycling takes a long time in a planted tank because the plants eat up all the ammonia needed to cycle it.

for cycling, fish-less is recommended with PURE ammonia and 85f temp, or for fish cycling, you can do a few platys or danios

Welcome to AC! As far as cycling is concerned there's a great E-book on this site with plenty of information or you can search the forum and you'll probably find hundreds if not thousands of different threads related to cycling to help you get on your way.

Welcome. A cycle is not necessary but must be heavily planted. You will still need to cycle with just a few plants so go fishless and save a bunch of work.
