It's so funny. I have 5 loaches in my 75 gallon and I see them out all day, swimming about, scavenging for goodies. When I had them in the 55 , I never saw them!!!!!!! They are so entertaining to say the least! Anyone else?

I wanted to have them SO badly but after I heard they work best in large groups I just didn't have the heart to keep only 3 stuffed in a 29 gallon.

I agree, the more room you give kuhlis, the more that they are out.

With respect of the gourps thing, I ve had 4 of them, they seem fine, but I amy put more in just to have them more comfortable...

I almost fell off my chair this morning. I happened to glance at the tank and saw this strange, worm like fish swimming near the top. On closer inspection, it was a Kuhli!!!!! Never seen one free swim before!

29 gallon seems like a lot of room already, kuhlis dont grow that large anyway [4-5 inches]. Although i'm no expert, my LFS recommended I get three for my 10 gallon tank. They've got plenty of space to forage around, and they're so adorable hiding together! :1luvu:

the bioload is so low on them, you can get 10 in a 10g and find them all in a ball when they go into their sleep state. Mine breed like crazy in my 55. My wife saw the babies before i ever did, she described them as a tiny little white worm.

I breed em.

you need a 10g tank, a UGF plate(functioning) and some gravel, I plant my pangio tank.

There are alot more variables involed but thats the basics and they will breed under the ugf plate like crazy

I have 3 black Kuhlis in my 29 g with my Tetras. I got them free with a shipment of my Blue King Tetras. They come out of their cave at feeding time. Also sometimes when the weather changes they go nuts like my Dojos and swim around like crazy. They are still very small and I have them already 3-4 month.
