Well, I'm gonna be transferring to a college in Vermont in the Fall and, although pets are allowed in the dorms (environmental school thumbs2: ), I don't think I'll be able to keep any of the fish that I'd like to because I'll be very busy up there. So I'm looking for a small amphibian or reptile to keep in a 10g or 20-long.

Whatever it is, I don't want to have to do lots of maintenance or have to feed it every day (I may be gone for a few days at a time on camping trips). Any suggestions?

Not to hijack but are there any snakes you can keep in a 10-20 gallon? Also I used to have anoles about 8 years ago but couple questions is all you feed them is crickets? Is there any other lizards that you can keep in a smaller tank like a 10-20 that arnt so quick and jumpy?

Firebellys!Ours have proven near indestructible.Easy to feed, they can take highs and lows in temp. They are not as susceptible to diseases as other frogs and they bark like little dogs.
