Local fish store tells me a lie about Sting Rays

Earlier this week I went to my local Fish store. 5 Minutes by car, I rarly go there since they do not know what their talking about. They have 2 Employees not including the owner. I started talking to an Employee about Freshwater Sting Rays and that I always wanted one, but I am only thinking about 100-120 Gallon tank and thats to small for Sting Rays. Right away he says No it's not, go ask the owner and lets see what he says. The owner tells me a 75 Gallon tank for 2 is a great size for 2 10" as adult Sting rays.

What do you guys say?

Stingrays need 180+ gallons, depending on the species. A 75g tank would be barely wide enough to fit a 10" stingray in, much less two. I'm sure it can be done with the right equipment and the right know-how, but stingrays are already considered very difficult to keep, so putting them in a tank that is less than half of the recommended size is just asking for it.

I agree with Chrona. If the fish barely fits, don't even think about getting one. How much are the stingrays?

...don't sting rays need a large square aquarium to turn around in? Aren't the rectangular too narrow for them? They ones I've seen have been in those large, shallow, squarish aquariums...

they'll dig up all your plants as well, and if the tank is too small, they risk swimming up the side and hitting the lid if they get spooked.

A 75 is wayyy to small. For stingrays an ideal tank would be 1'-2' deep with a very large surface area. 10" stingray with tail would have a hell of a time in a 75 gallon

just to back up what others have said, 75gallons IS too small for 1 stingray, never mind 2.
your right rue, most rays need squarish shallow tanks, usally too big for home aquariums. best to not buy a ray and just visit seaworld.lol
