I didn't have my camera with me. I saw dyed baby ducks for sell. Pink, purple, blue, green.(of course they had some yellow ones...lol) Is this just sick??? I thought dyed fish were bad. I guess the dye is safe enough, but still just sad/sick.

It gets worse, they apparently don't do a very good job, because all of them had their beaks and mouths stained as well. Tongues and all!! I know we're in a recession and all but holy sh** people, grow some morals!!! :fish2: :fish2:

Has anyone else seen this? I'll try to get some pics soon.

Selling them dyed is no worse then selling them in the first place. The biggest percentage of them purchased are bought on impulse with no thought whatsoever to there care and housing requirements. The dye is harmless as is the process of dying them, its the practice of selling something like this in the first place that should be questioned.

pet shops here cannot sell them unless they are part of the regular inventory , no seasonal sales

In here we have that as well but with chicks (baby chicken) only the colour the egg with a special natural dye that doesnt hurt the chicken biut gets absorbed and sticks to only the feather so the chicken when hatched already has the colour and no harm in any way, still dont think is right but if the chicken is not harm in any way then is it bad?

I second the fact that impulse buying is the problem. It's fine if you are ready to keep chickens, but if you just buy a chick because its oh so cute and colored and dont plan to take care of it... I imagine that's what most people do in the case of colored chicks for easter. I haven't seen dyed chicks around here, but I know that pet stores here don't sell chicks, only the feed supply stores that deal with people that actually raise chickens for a reason, not just as ill cared for pets.
