Hi everyone,
I have 5 tetras in a 6-gallon tank. Recently I have bought a lot of aquatic plants and installed co2 bio system. After then, the tetras seem a bit aggressive chasing after each other. I am not sure if they are just playing (do fish play?) or getting stressed because the plants are encroaching into their swimming area? or does co2 affect and stress fish out?
Thank you very much for your comments.

How aggressive? Bumping and chasing is normal, part of breeding which egg scatterers will do almost constantly in good conditions. The sudden change in behavior makes sense because you vastly improved conditions. Breeding would also make sense since you did both things one would do to encourage it, you lowered the ph closer to want they like (by injecting co2) and increased plant life.
What species of tetra? If there is no fin damage, its harmless. As always, increasing their numbers slightly can help, but with such a small tank probably not the best idea.
Personally, i cant think of many tetra species that would fit well in a 6 gallon well, so you may want to consider upgrading.

Yup, tetra's do bump and chase as part of their playtime.
Watch that CO2 in the small area that you don't overdose and deplete the oxygen.

Makes sense to me!
Fish do play! When some fish are spawning some tend to rough house a lot and it looks like they are fighting. They may also be competeing for a female!

i agree with hobbs, co2 seems a bit excessive for a 6 gal tank. Many tetras are very active players. My buenos aires tetras play alot and it can get pretty hairy, esp when all 6 of them get into it(which invariably gets my rainbows going too-- it's like tank full of 2 year olds) When you added the plants, you probably made them feel a little more at home, so they are kicking loose a bit

What part did you agree on.....where I wrote "What the CO2".....LOL
Wish I could see those blunders before I hit send!
I agree the tank is very, very iffy for C02. A tank of 6 gallons should have slow growers in it with no CO2.

Hi Everyone,
Thank you for your comments!
my tetras are neon tetras. "agressive" means that they chase after each other, but their fins don't look nipped, like the chunk taken out, but some of their top fins are kind of "split".
I thought they were all male, but I don't know how to tell their sex so may be they are mating...
Thank you-
