Hi guys. New to joining the site, but I've been reading it for weeks. I have a problem with guppy fry, and I need something to thin them out. I have a 20 gallon long with 10 neons and 4 pygmy corys, along with one male and four female guppies. I like the guppies I have, and I don't want to get rid of them...I just need a little something to thin out the fry. I can get rid of those fry that grow large enough. My big problem is finding something to take down the fry that won't eat the neons. Anyone have any ideas?

I use Mollys and Angels for crowd control. I don't Angels would be good for you but a couple Mollys would do the trick. I have 5 of them in my tank with about a dozen neons and they get along fine.

Welcome to AC by the way! :22:

Why not just get rid of the male guppie and you won't have all the guppies to get rid of.

I would say a betta for fry, but he will probebly be too busy attacking your full-grown guppies. I had my Betta in with platys and would see fry, but they never grew, and I would only see them like, once. Amazingly, after I moved the betta out, lots of fry! That explains why he was never hungry!

I second that you should move out the male guppy. Or separate the males and females if you have a lot of them!

Check with pet places around you. Some will buy your fry or give you store credit. Or other places will do 'adoptions' which basically means they take your fish and turn around and sell it later!

I agree, bettas do good job of getting rid of the fry. Plus, theyre fun to watch when they hunt ; )
