Are Angel's ok to keep as singles, or are they happier in a group?

I've read that 2 don't usually get along, but 3 or more can work out. Usually the biggest one will establish dominance while the others let him/her chase/peck them. If you have any smaller top-dwellers, it might send them packing towards the bottom.

Well, it doesn't matter, because my final Angel died late this afternoon. What a waste of $20 those were.

I've had...on two occaisions...2 angels and they were buddies in each instance...but they were bought when they were very small...and grew up together...don't know if that makes a difference, but I'm assuming it does...

...on both occaisions they also grew up with a school of neons...never bothered them as adults either...

Sorry to hear that. About 6 months ago i bought two clown loaches and they died. That was about $15...
It sucks losing money.

it sucked when my domestic angel died.

I had her since a baby, and she was fullgrown when i sold my 33g with the fish (it hurt to sell it all), and when i saw here in the morning and i was about to put all of my fish in a bucket, she had a small white spot, HITH.

I was gonna keep her, then she started to swim sideways so i had to clove oil and vodka her. :(

clove oil and vodka huh? never heard of that. Is that supposed to less painful for them, i've just always used carbonated water and refrigerator:4:

I'm still ticked about it. I mean, the fish must have been ill for all 3 of them to die like that. Oh well, I'm just gonna leave my 40gal how it is, the rest of the fish are doing great.

its 100% painless. I use it mainly on bettas. You throw in alot of clove oil, and it literally makes them sleep. Then, after they sleep, use jack daniels or smirnoff and put the fish in. The alcohol rips apart the circulatory system painlessly and immediately kills the fish.

Ive only used this method, but considered the head chop, but i learnt that half the time the head is alive for 30 min after. THATS TORTURE

ok, i'll keep that in mind about the clove oil, but yeah, i agree with you on staying away from the head chop method

Well, I think if anything I'll add a Siamese Cat Fish..is that what they're called? Anyway, I need something to take care of algae.

RIGHT, thanks Severus:thumb: Siamese Algae Eater, and that will be the final addition to my 40 Gal tank till things start to die off.
Then I'll get to stocking my 10gal after it's cycled:malelovies:

No problem. Just be careful because i heard they can be a little aggressive sometimes as they mature

*Sarah*

Oh, I thought that was the Chinese Algae eatr that gets aggressive?

Older Chinese Algae Eaters have a tendency to become aggressive as they get older ...

Siamese Algae Eaters are relativley peaceful...

False Siamese Algae Eaters are also supposed to be peaceful...but I have read that they can be aggressive...so who knows?

...and so are Oto cats...but I'll know more about them when I've had mine a bit longer...

It's important to remember that only a True Siamese Algae Eater will eat that annoying beard/brush algae, which I think is their main selling point. Otherwise, I'd just get Oto's because they are smaller and I can have more of them.

Yeah, the Oto cat is the other one I've been considering. So do you guys think that would be a better choice?

Chrona

If you don't get beard or brush algae, then go for it. I would get a few of them, but my Amazon sword is always plagued with the stuff.

*Sarah*

Well, they would go in my 40g. It has fake plants, and the only algae it has is some brownish type stuff on the glass. SO far anyway.

I think a few otto cats would be great for your 40
