Well 2 parts to this answer. First of all, it is really an individual specimen thing, but in my experience, I've never seen or had a problem with Flame Angels and corals at all. Second part to the answer, a 29gal is too small for a Flame Angel. If you want a dwarf angel for your tank then look into the African Flameback or a Fisher's Angel.

that was another ? i had i have looked at 2 different sites one said 30 g min the other said 55 g min, i will look into those other 2 you mentioned, not just a species thing i just really like angels. But a flame is really what i wanted they are beautiful fish. another site i just looked at said a 20 g min for the flame. so what would be a min tank size for a flame?

ummmm..... i think it was saltwaterfish.com
nope that wasnt it i will search and find it

it was liveaquaria.com

I would have put money on that one. Don't pay any attention to live aquaria's minimum tank sizes. They are so far off it is ridiculous.

i think i may have heard that before do you know of any reliable sites i could check out

saltwaterfish.com doesn't seem too bad but there are some errors there as well.

I've never heard personally of anybody having that problem, but I've read it in an arcticle somewhere before. IMO, a 40g is the minimum size for a Flam Angel.
Also, ILMGB, is one of the most knowledgeable people on this forum. thumbs2:

i think i will go with what ILMBG said, a flameback. was in touch with colby at LFS and he had one in stock so i hope it is still there when i get home.

how about a coral beauty angel? what size tank?
04-16-2009, 03:39 AM
ccald, the tank is a 29gal, just a little small for a Coral Beauty.

for a coral beauty i would say at least a 40g breeder for the 18" of width
