I would like to supplement my Bamboo Shrimps diet with spirulina powder but have read it contains iodine. Anyone know if this is a bad idea?

If its alright to use, how much and how often?

Thanks.

This was kind of discussed before. There was a discussion about iodine in shrimp foods in general. I think in general we showed how it is still a vital nutrient and the low levels in high quality foods are at least fine if not beneficial. Some still stick to the idea of 'why risk it'.

I would say try a little and see how it goes.

What brand and product exactly is this spirulina powder?

I bought it from a health food store. Was initially going to use it to gorge up some brine shimp but never got around to it. It says its all natural and the only ingredient is 100% spirulina powder. Im mixing a few tablespoons of it with water and pouring a little in each day. Im hoping it does him some good. Not really sure how much to add though.

It is fine. I thought you meant some form of iodine was an ingredient. Even that is usually okay.
