No...................Iguanas get big.A proper size enclosure for an iguana to grow into would be about the size of a fridge.

I'm getting fedup about my Fish dieing all the time and want to change them to Reptile tanks.

This is not all my fish tanks, but some of the ones I want to change. 2-20g, 2-29g, 1-45g. I don't want Small Anoles and somethig bigger in the 45g. It could be any Frog, Lizard or Turtle or any other thing you can think of. Please no Snakes,Rats or Spiders. I'm still thinking of a Snake, but at the current time I can not get over the fear of it escaping.

Current Stock:
2 African Clawed Frogs
1 Albino clawed Frog
2 Regular Tree Frogs
2 Regular Anoles
1 Cuban Knight Anoles
1 Carrot Tail Gecko
1 Florida Red Belly Turtle.

That means you are more suited for reptiles then fish, for an iguana i would choose either a 150 gal tank or a backyard with a tight fence.

150 gal is way small for a critter that reaches 4-6 ft long.

I had an Iguana when i was a kid, that thing was a beast. You could actually put a small dog harness on it and walk it LOL. It was actually a good bit bigger than me, not weight wise, but much longer than i was tall. I had a room to myself and my father built an enclosure for it in my room that seemed about half the room. It still got to the point where it seemed a little cramped in it. Since things seem so much bigger when your a little kid I'm guessing this enclosure was about 7 feet long, 3 to five feet deep, and about 5 feet high. It was awesome, we had a buncha plants in there and all kinds of stuff he could climb. My dad must have spent a small fortune on it. Unfortunately after having him 3 years or so I had to find a new home for him, because my stepmom wasn't a big fan.

Basically what I'm trying to say is IMO even a 150-200 gallon tank isn't good enough for a full grown Iguana. I wouldn't recommend a backyard either, even a WELL enclosed one. On warm days we would sometimes let "Jed" out in the backyard to clean his enclosure and he got out more than once, thankfully as soon as the sun started going down he would be easy to find on this huge rock in our neighbors (A really nice older couple with a cool rock garden) backyard, since it stayed nice and warm after a sunny day. Iguanas are really cool animals, and they aren't really crazy active, but you gotta imagine an animal like that in the wild probably covers a good bit of ground, and it's nice to be able to let them move around as much as possible.

desert iguana will live in a 45 black and white speckles mine topped out at about 11 inches but I haven't seen them for sale for 20 years. Had to build a 5x6x4 cage for my green iguana had him 11 years. he topped out at 6' he outgrew a 100 gal tank in 5 months. he was about 4" when I got him. he was 90% veg so easy to feed.

Would a Breeding pair of Veiled chameleons do good in a 45 Gallon?

Not to be rude, but I don't know if I'd recommend any reptile to a person who has to ask on a fishkeeping website if an iguana can fit into a 40 gallon aquarium, much less something relatively fragile like a chameleon. Maybe you should stick to hamsters and gerbils.

First off it's a 45 Gallon, not a 40g. I was asking about an Iguana because maybe there were small versions I do not know about. Also most chameleon don't grow more then 12"(some grow to 20" though).

What are the dimensions of the 45?

I've never kept chameleons before but from what I understand they do best in large, screen enclosures rather than glass.

I would turn the 45 into a naturalistic crested gecko enclosure, you'd have enough room for a group of them. I've never kept them but I hear they are easy to keep, not to mention cute!
