You have to cycle it first, either with fish or fishless [preffered]read up on that subject on this forum.

Welcome :22:

Being a fish newb myself I'm not really going to suggest fish.. there is tons and tons of great info here to help you get started. But for what it's worth I started with a school of Zerba Danios and a school of guppies. Very easy fish to deal with once you're cycled.

Welcome to the site. Read up on cycling. You may be able to go through a silent cycle, since you've got yourself a planted tank. How heavily planted is it? Choosing fish is a personal decision, and depends heavily on what you have available in you area, find ones you like and read up on them. To help you choose, see what sort of tank conditions and numbers they like to be kept at, that'll help narrow down your choices. Whatever fish you decide to keep, just remember to introduce them slowly to the tank, only a few to the tank at once. Then give it a week or two, so your media and bacteria have time to build up to the bioload.

Welcome to the forum. Are these real plants we are talking about? If so, do you have a lot of them in the tank?
