Hi! I have a new 75 I will be switching my 55 into. What are people's thoughts as to the best way to do this? I thought I would put new gravel in and add the old on top. I will be using the same decorations as well as the same filter so the bacteria will be available. I am going to drain all the water from the 55 to the 75. Now the fish. This is my question. Thought I'd catch them one at a time and gently place them in the new tank and add fresh water to the lot to top off the 75.

Sounds like you're already on the right track there... should work out fine...

Sounds like a plan!

I am also upgrading my 10g into a 20g. Make sure you check your new tank for leaks first. Also, you might want to add more decorations to the tank so there are more places for fish to hide/play instead of more open areas.

Depends if your 75 is going into the same location as your 55. You can keep the fish in a temporary container like a rubbermaid bin, while you transfer everything over. The way you have planned sounds fine.
