I'm sad :(

My neighbor bought a used fish tank setup, along with a gray-blue cichlid (not sure what kind) After picking up some goldfish at the LFS, he found out they were incompatible, so he put the cichlid in a bucket and the goldfish in the tank. When I saw it, I told him to return the fish to a LFS asap, possibly for some credit, but I doubt it will survive until then, as the guy looked in pretty bad shape already from all the transferring. I would have taken him in, but my 10g community tropical tank with slightly acidic water would not have been a good match, even if just for the night, since it's got a bunch of small fish in it and this fella was about 4-5 inches long. Makes me sad :(

Oh that poor fish, maybe the guy can bring the golds back or stick them in the bucket for now (they can live in a bowl and be fine)...at least until he can find a home for the cichlid. I hate hearing things like that. I think that is cruel you buy a tank with a fish in it and you yank him out of his home place him in a bucket and stick golds in there...that is soooo WRONG. I would speak up and tell my neighbor what I thought they were doing is wrong if they listen then great if not then at least you tried and spoke up on the poor lil defenceless fishes behalf.

That stinks. I wish the lfs would take more responsibility when selling fish to ppl, let them know what is and isn't compatible. One lfs near me always asks us before we buy fish what size tank we have and if we have a heater. Also what other kinds of fish we have. I always think it's great that they're concerned.

my lfs's dont give a $hit anymore. It used to be " what tank size, heater? other fish. you over 18? if not, you need a adult"

Now, they just scoop it and off i go
