Ok, my male convict has developed a mold looking spot on its side. I guess I need to know what it is before I can treat him. I noticed the spot last night and got him into the quarentine tank this morning. It seems to be growing at a decent pace so time is probably of the esence! Here are the pics. I'm not sure if you can tell but the spot seems to be blueish but I'm color blind. Don't take my word for it. Any ideas?

It's indeed bluish. Can you try to get some brighter lighting and a closer look at the fish's side? Since you're colourblind, you probably won't be able to tell if there's any blood, but we could if we have a nice, close photo.
Your first course of action, of course, should be to remove that convict from the tank and isolate him in another tank, if you can. If it's fungal or bacterial, it could infect other fish.
Some links to help you, in the meantime, since you can see him better than we can:

Melafix and Pimafix are what I'd start treating with. Pimafix will treat the fungus and melafix will keep the bacteria at bay while the fish heals. If the fish still doesn't respond then it may require stronger drugs but I've had great success with melafix.

I guess I'll give this a try. Better to do something than nothing! Until I can get a better idea of what that is. I'll try to get a better picture, but what can I say? The fish doesn't like having its picture taken.
