Well, I thought I'd make a thread where we could all post pictures of our other pets, and maybe say a bit about them if you are so inclined. I'll go first since it's my idea.

This is Audrey. She is a Sealpoint Siamese that we adopted from our local SPCA. She's such a sweet cat, and she just loves being on anyone's lap.
][Only Registered Users Can See Links.] ([Only Registered Users Can See Links.)

Mr. Jones is a Ragdoll Cat. We got him from a breeder and had him flown to us from British Columbia. He's really laid back, but not as friendly as Audrey is.
][Only Registered Users Can See Links.] ([Only Registered Users Can See Links.)

This is Nigel. He's a Golden Retriever, and he's 1 year old. He's probably the best dog that exists (but I'm just a bit biased:hmm3grin2orange: ). He's great with the kids, loves everyone he meets.

I have several pics of my pets but when I tried to upload them here they were all too big. It's too much of a pain to try to reduce all of them.

Thanks guys :) He is pretty, but Ragdoll cats all are. He doesn't have much personality, he just kinda eats, craps, and lays around all day. Audrey I found on the internet, she is a Siamese, and was picked up as a stray! No one came to get her, and we went to visit her, and that was that. She got spayed and then came home with us, and she's such an amazing cat, personality plus, and she's so good with the kids.

LAUREN- if you use [Only Registered Users Can See Links.], u can just upload the pics, and it gives you the img links that come as thumbnails. IT's SOOO easy and it's free to sign up there. It takes no longer to do thumbnails than it does to do reg pics. :)

My cat does. He meows at you if you walk by without acknowledging him.

Other then the cat I have 4 lizards.
Our Cats name is Patchouly.
The Lizards are Wiggles, Wiggles Friend (I call him Dewy), Cute and Baby Wiggles. They were named by my 2 year old Daughter.
I don't have a good pic of the baby yet.

Wow Crackatinny, your birds are beautiful:41: I would LOVE to have a big bird, and I will some day, when my kids are a bit older. I can't believe your one guy was stuck in a net, that's so sad :( I'm glad he calmed down though. Was he wild, or was he someone's pet that got away?
And 7 Shih-tzu's! WOW. How do you have time to do anything but groom them? I know, being a groomer, if I had 7 of them all I'd be doing is clipping, combing, or washing them lol.

I have a lab and 4 rats

I LOVE rats!

When I was a teenager I got a rat that I rescued from the psychology department at a local college (she was a maze-running rat). I named her Michael Lee and she was an albino and the sweetest animal ever. She never went to the bathroom outside her cage and I could teach her any simple command, like snapping my fingers and she would climb to the top of her water bottle and get a piece of food. I would walk around the house, watch tv, or do whatever, and she would just hang out on my shoulder. Rats are seriously underrated as pets, I think. They're very clean and smart and make great pets. Even my mother liked the rat, and that's not something that you can usually say about mothers.

Here is my dog. His name is Bosco and he is a pistol.
Here is him sleeping in the bed with his tubby. He goes through toys so fast that we have to buy them at the thrift store. Teletubbies are his favorite.

Here is another picture of him with his Winnie the Pooh (whos face he removed). He is the Hannibal Lecter of puppies.

Yes! I love my guys! Everyone is usually like "eww you have rats" and then when they see them they are amazed out how tame and beautiful they are. They are littler box trained and know their names. They defintely are underrated and i would seriously recommend them to almost anyone as a pet. They are great!

Bosco is beautiful...unusual black coloring! A boss at one of my old jobs had a black and silver miniature Schnauzer that she would bring into work. I was a receptionist and I would let that dog sit on my lap all day while I was working.

However, Teletubbies kinda freak me out. They're creepy little bastards!

My Border Collie used to rip open stuffed animals as well. I too would go to the thrift shop and buy entire bags of stuffed animals for 25cents each. Luckily she grew out of that phase and now the animals last much longer.

I have met a number of them, and fell in love with all of them, I'm really hoping we get accepted and can adopt the little girl we want to.

My Chinese Crested was born in 1989, back before they were AKC accepted...meaning there were very few of them around. This meant there were sparse bloodlines and not much to choose from gene pool-wise when breeding. My dog was much smaller (7 lbs) than what's being bred now, and she was much more mentally fragile...slightly skittish and not very bright at all (actually, and I loved her with all my heart...but she was downright dumb). Chinese Cresteds nowadays are larger, around 12-16 lbs, and are rather intelligent and friendly, although there is some residual shyness and reservations toward men (why toward men, I have no idea...this is just what I see in a lot of rescued Cresteds). A nice dog for a loving and attentive adult home, but there are always caution issues when toy breeds are considered for a home with small children. As far as skin issues, keep them lotioned up and moisturized (the foster mom can tell you what she recommends), and unless it's summertime, ALWAYS keep a sweater on (in winter I did multiple sweaters on my dog...a t-shirt underneath, and then 2 thick doggie sweaters over it).

Good luck and let me know how the adoption goes!

Thanks for the info :) I'll be the one home with the dog most of the time anyway, so it's ok if she bonds with me. I do have 2 little kids, but since I'm a groomer, I have dogs in and out all the time, so they have experience with little dogs. Besides, I'd never leave them alone with her anyway. We'll see if we get her or not...there were 3 other families interested in her.

Hitler-looking cats and Bush babies. If someone can make an ornament for their aquarium that looks like the Pentagon or the former Twin Towers, we'd definitely be pushing the boundaries!

I didn't know you were a groomer....how nice! That will actually get you further with the rescue group, knowing that you are in the animal care industry. Cresteds are furrier now, so they have a lot more of a plume and the feathering on their feet and tail thicker. Regardless, grooming is basically non-existent, and bathing a Chinese Crested is like washing your hands!

Boy she is hairy....she looks like a little Ewok!! She is really cute though and her eyes are gorgeous. She will actually be really beautiful after her face is shaved because of the thick plume she'll have. I stopped shaving my dog's face after she turned 14 or 15...she was very arthritic and slept all the time so I just let her go and didn't bother anymore. The pic I posted was when she was about 15 and she's totally ungroomed and natural....that just goes to show how very hairless they were way back then. I would have loved for her to have more hair so I could have groomed her into having a thick lush plume.

Oh there are still many very hairless ones, but I think they try to breed them with more plumage since more people want them. I agree, Maddie will look great with her face shaved, and her chest. I'd do her in a beautiful HL clip with lots of plumage :) OH I soooo hope we are the ones who get to take her home, there couldn't possibly be a better home than ours:1luvu: Either way, I will get a Crested some day.

I didn't know that Cocoa...wow, and I'm in the same country as u, go figure. I have to admit, I'm not a fan of rats, and I would NEVER have one as a pet. It all stems from a terrifying incident in a pet store where I was maliciously attacked by a rat (ok, so I was poking it through the cage bars...still no reason to BITE me) and it drew blood, and for like a month afterward I was worried I'd end up with some kind of disease...

However, I have no problem with people keeping rats as pets, as long as they take good care of them and never release them into the wild, so that they never end up in my house, because they WILL eat rat poison and die...:wink2:

in fact, 2 weeks ago when i went to seattle, i saw my first rat ever at a petco. i stared at those things for 20 minutes.

The one thing i like about alberta is the government is lobbying for 0% GST in the province.

In edmonton, its STILL snowing, and ticking me off. On the news, the average should be 10 degrees celcius. By friday, its gonna melt and be 20 degrees celcius

Dude thats why your not supposed to stick your fingers threw the bars. They will mistake you for food. They really are sweet. Mine is grooming me right now.

I have pics of my rat here. [Only Registered Users Can See Links.]

They are a beutiful and very intelligent dog, my father drove stock trucks for well over 50 years, so I grew up with border collies and kelpies around all the time. Offspring of dads dogs, where fairly wide spread around here in those days.

Before I moved I had a chow/husky mix and what I call a labereiner (lab/weimerainer mix) a cat, and 2 rats, but they all found new homes because when I had my divorce I had to move to an apartment that wouldn't allow pets and it was all I could afford at the time. Now the pet collection can grown now that i live with my Robert and we own the house.

The papers still matter very much...shows where the dog came from, so if he ends up with any congenetial defects, you can tell the breeder about it so he/she will stop that breeding program...That and it's proof that the dog is truly a purebred.

On page 10, there are pics of a pair of grass parrots we own, unfortunately, the cock had an accident in the aviary a couple of weeks ago and broke his neck, the hen was very lonely and sad (as we were to), so a mate loaned me this cock to keep her company untill we could find her another mate, he is going back to his owner in the morning, as my mate has got hold of another cockbird for us, in the time he was here, we think he may have fertalised the hen, as she is building a nest, we sure hope so, he is a beautiful bird.

1st pic is with the hen, rest just show his wonderfull colours, he is a yellow opaline mutation.

New bird is unseen CAF, but I trust my mate, The bird in the pics is worth about AU$200, and I was paranoid all the time I had him, if he fertalised the hen, the young could be worth that or more.

The cock he got me for her, I payed AU$50 for, I get it in the morning and will put pics up, but either way, after this breeding season, with both the grass parrots and ringnecks, we are going to choose pairs between both our stock to cross.

Thanks for the nice comments, he is a beatiful bird.

Wow everyone has some really nice pets! I am going out the door to go back to work then I will be out shopping after that but I wanted to make a post to let everyone know I love their pictures and stories about their pets. We have some very loving people here specially toward their animals, I am glad to be a part of this wonderful group.

Sarah, I remember reading you were getting Maddy but never seen her pic until now...LOVE the dye gobs what a cute thing to do to her. It must be a great benefit to be a groomer...I used to want to start a traveling grooming business but no money for it. She is a little princess and that was my daughter's comment about her hair being pink...lol too cute!

Crackatinny, You birds are gorgeous, I am almost positive that the ring necks are in the budgie family, but slightly bigger and a bit smarter from what I hear on the bird site. I can't wait to see pics of our new cock(bird) when you get him.
I forget the person's name I am sorry for this. I wanted you you know your dog is so handsome. I love the pic's of the CBR, I had one about 10 yrs ago and he was the most loyal dog and a farmer shot him and his mother because they kept breaking out of our yard and going off to kill chickens, so I moved to the city because I thought that was cruel and here we dont have to deal with stuff like that.

when I get home I will make a post about all of my Zoo...lol it'll take too long to do it right now.
