i have 2 hob filters on my 55gl. tank, one is a penguine 350 bio wheel, the other is an aqua-tec 30-60. instead of using the cartridges i bought some filter fiber the white pillow stuffing stuff,and stuffed it inside the filter boxes where the cartridges would have gone. has anyone ever tried this? will it harm the hob filters?

It should be fine.

It should be fine, just keep it away from the impeller and the bio wheel. Many people use old cartridges (with the old fiber removed) to keep the white floss in place.
