wow there are quite a few. :19: Your right though your other female will have to be removed. She will be seriously hurt, killed or she will if given the chance eat the eggs / fry. You should feel no guilt at rehoming her if you have too. :ssmile:

You should see wrigglers in approx 3 days.

Thats great Mrs.F!
Its too bad about your other female but rehoming is cheaper than getting another tank just not as much fun!

Aww no. :scry: Feed them up well. Give it 2 weeks and they will spawn again. It is probably because they hadn't bred for a while or just the water changes and better conditions helped them spawn.:ssmile:

Don't feel bad about it. I am on my third try now with my elliotti pair. It is just one of those things it happens. The good thing is it doesn't take long for them to try again. :ssmile:

I wonder why, I cleaned the filter in that tank yesterday and put sponge on the inlet wonder does that have anything to do with it.
Or maybe the fact no 3 is stil in there with them, she (no3) was showing some odd behaviuor yesterday, was almost like she was taunting the motherfish, I videotaped it but I haven't a clue how to put the vid on my pc.
when I'll find out how to do that I will try and upload it.

Ahh ok I would say that cleaning the filter disturbed them maybe and the other female must have got to the eggs. If you want fry from this pair you may have to take the spare female to the LFS as soon as you can instead of waiting to get a home for her.:ssmile:

Awwww sorry you lost your eggs this time. I don't know much about jewels but with mbuna when they first start out breeding it can take them a few tries to get it done right (they sometimes end up swallowing the eggs before they hatch). I'm sure your pair will get it right eventually. Getting rid of the extra female should increase your chances. Thumbs up for giving them a home they feel comfortable in. Gorgeous fish! Thanks for sharing the pics.
