If you haven't found this site yet in your travels, check it out. You will be there reading by the hour.

The site contains info about snails, snakes, mice and rats. Frogs and shrimp and about every kind of fish. All contain nice pictures of all. No sales unless you live in Iowa and can pick up but the info is great.

All written with humor, as well, and in an easy- to -understand fashion. The plant section held me for 4 hours! Many of the plants I intended to buy were scrapped after reading about them here in his manner -of- fact information about them. Pictures of dozens of plants and how to plant them and their pros and cons.

How to build cichlid condo's from pvc pipe and decorate with driftwood and the pros and cons of different gravels. Too much to mention in this post.

If you haven't the time to graze thru the site right now, bookmark it for later.

thats a great site.

i saw the coolest kribensis yesterday.

It was a scarlet kribensis, much more beautiful that regular ones.

I still like my krib though, tons of personality

Thanks. The scarlet sounds awesome. I found some very different type rasbora's on the web the other day and now can't find them. They were red and very, very pretty.

Scarlets have WAY more color. They look like cotton candy

Lots of info...but I have to disagree with the betta page...

...just because a betta can survive in a tiny amount of water...doesn't mean that it SHOULD be housed in a tiny amount of water...

...and it's been 3 weeks since I started my 'betta experiment' and put 3 females and 1 male in my community tank...everyone is still happy and healthy (knock on wood)...

i disagree with shallow too.

i think a 2.5g is about the best size.

I also think putting them in 10g or above is kinda stressful on them

I have no bettas so didn't read that section. Took me hours to just read the plants and cichlids. Betta's natural habitat is shallow rice paddies but like you, I think they deserve better.

Very cool page. I have a question though, is it ok to put a male betta in a community tank? Won't it attack the other fish? That site said that bettas are good in a community tank...

I wouldn't go so far to say they were "good" in a community tank. Many have tried and failed but others have had good sucess with it. Some fish they just don't get along with and especially other colorful fish. You have to make sure, also, you have no fin nippers, such as barbs, with them.

You know, I came across that site a while ago, and I have to agree, hobbs. It really is an awesome site. I just love whomever it is that wrote everything on that site. I literally got stuck reading about all kinds of stuff for HOURS.

From the Raphael catfish page:
"When you grab him, he tries to grab you back." And instead of saying they're nocturnal, they say "prefers the night shift". Hee! :D
