Hi, my name is Jerry and I am from The Netherlands, The Hague. I have 2 aquariums.
One is Brackish of 32 gallon, with 4 different species of puffers (1 Tetraodon Nigroviridis, 1 Tetraodon biocellatus and 2 Tetraodon fluviatilis), 2 Ancistrus dolichopterus and one L109.

My other aquarium is freshwater of 15 gallon, with one Tetraodon suvattii.

I joined this forum to read and learn from other people who also keep pufferfish like me.

Hey there Jerry! I'm sure you'll like it here, we also have a rather prominent puffer lover, Kimmers318. She recently enlightened me about puffer teeth and dentistry!

Welcome to the forum.....always love to see a puffer lover:19:

How does your mix in the 32 gal do together? Most people stick to species only tanks with few exceptions and it is always nice to hear about puffs beign able to share their space. How big is your fluviatillis? Are we looking at all juveniles here? I had hoped to find the fluviatillis for my 29 but didn't have any luck. I would love to see pics of your puffers!!!! Pretty please!!!

You do realize that your suvatti will most likely outgrow your 15 gal don't you?

I have a trio of dwarf puffers in a 10 gal and a new modestus in my 29 gal who is doing amazingly well for a new puff in a new home!

And, yes, drummachine, puffers really do puff, including the freshwater variety. Puffing is something though that generally indicates a negative reaction (fear etc) to something and is not seen as a good thing, although some people have puffers that seem to enjoy puffing regularly. I have seen my male dp puff a couple of times, the most recent when his dumb curious butt sent him shooting up the hose while siphoning dead snail shells out and he freaked and got stuck in the hose all puffed up. It was comical and he came thru without being harmed, but that isn't something I try to allow them to do!

he Kimmer,

The puffers are doing really fine together, they leave each other allone and they don't pay attention to each other. My puffers swim verry happy in my tank ;)

I know that the Suvattii will outgrow my aquarium, but I couldn't leave him behind at the store.... I fell in love immediately!! And a new aquarium was on my list for first thing to buy... ;) but for now he is big enough for my 15 gallon aquarium.

My 2 Fluviatillis are approximatally 13/15 cm and they are really cute!! My little Nigroviridis is allmost the same size of my Fluvatillis..
I don't know how to add pic's but when I find this out I will put some pic's of my puffers!!

I'm still learning how this all works... ;)

There are several ways to post pics, under the posting thread area is a manage attachments button that you can use to upload as a thumbnail size. I like to use photobucket.com...free website where you can upload your pics and copy/paste links. Please make sure though that after you upload your pics to photobucket you click on the edit tab above each pic and resize them to webpage or thumbnail size so you don't post HUGE pics in the threads. Even though I resize my pics on my computer to 4X6 they often load up much larger on photobucket and then here creating too large of pics.
Can't wait to see your photos!
I totally understand about not being able to leave a puff....I tried for 3 days in a row to leave my male and 2nd female dwarf at the store, they came home with me day 3!
My modestus was not a plannned purchase either, I had been told the store had fangi, when I got there the "fangi" didn't look good, wouldn't eat, and I couldn't see them well enough to ID for sure, but right next door was the modestus who was just dying to find a new home that understood him! He had been purchased twice and returned because of his aggressive nature. Something most don't understand about puffs. He is quite happy here!

Welcome. Would love to see pictures! Puffers are so cute, I saw the neatest one in the LFS today. He was in a salt water tank with a huge eel.
