I had this catfish since he was a baby he got huge and is getting bigger...I was wondering what kind of catfish is he and will he need a bigger aquarium?
Ps got him at meijer and have him in a 55gallon with a Jd.

I think your catfish is Auchenipterichthys thoracatum :ssmile:

So that would make it Horabagrus brachysoma .
No wonder I couldn't Id it correctly. Says it is a hybrid ( cross between 2 different species ) Thanks Fish guy.:ssmile:

Whats the min size tank i shoud have for them the Jd and suncat.
I was thinking the 100gallon long on glasscages.com 72L/18W/17H...
Cause most likely he wont get to be 18inches big if he does then i dont know.

I believe they call them eclipse catfish around here, i remember having to search "sun cat" eventually to find any info though. They can get well over a foot and quite fat. a 75 would be okay for it, yes, but of course bigger is better. The 75's sides are just barely long enough.
